Monthly Listening: October 2021
This month's rundown of great new releases from Nariaki Obukuro, Pasocom Music Club, Suisei Hoshimachi and more
Hi! This is October’s Monthly Listening list, a quick rundown of new Japanese albums I checked out this month that I enjoyed. You can browse past Monthly Listenings in the archives.
I am now officially back into production after taking my birthday week off. The actual day went pretty good! Like I told my friend then, it was less about what I wanted to do than what I wanted to consume, meaning the day revolved around getting something specific to eat and drink rather than any specific activity. I had my long-desired meal of sundubu jjigae for lunch, a tiramisu tart as dessert (a compromise since I couldn’t find a slice of tiramisu cake), and alcoholic slushie with some friends. In the drives between, I listened to a playlist full of idol music to my heart’s content.
Leading up to the day, I of course listened to some new releases. Here were my favorites for October. And as usual, here is a Spotify playlist of songs that didn’t make the cut in the main newsletter.
